Mrs. Ruby Warren McKenzie, 96, of Bent Hickory Road in Charleston, SC, formerly of Hampton, SC died late Friday afternoon at the Medical University of South Carolina after an extended illness.
Born April 24th, 1914 in Colleton County she was the daughter of the late Henry Warren, Sr. and Ottie Padgett Warren. Mrs. McKenzie was a homemaker and part-time Nurse's Aid, and will be remembered for her love of her family and friends. She was a member of the Lighthouse Church in Hampton, SC and attended the Seacoast West Community Church in Charleston, SC. She was the widow of Mr. Robert S. McKenzie.
She is survived by one son: Robert E. McKenzie and wife Kathryn of Charleston, SC and one daughter: Gloria M. Swered of Philadelphia, PA, three brothers: Homer Warren of Hampton, SC, Mac Warren of Port Wentworth, GA, and Henry Warren, Jr., of Conway, SC. There are 4 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers: Calvin, Bernard, and Virgil Warren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 20th, 2010 at 11 A.M. in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Brian Trent. Burial will follow in the Hampton Cemetery.
