Wade Hampton Croft

Mr. Wade Hampton Croft, Jr., 87, resident of Pond Town Road near Brunson, husband of Daisy Ann Croft, passed away late Tuesday evening, October 14, 2025.

Born November 14, 1937, in Barnwell County, Mr. Croft was the son of the late Wade Hampton Croft, Sr. and Corrie Haskell Croft. He was a graduate of Barnwell High School, served in the United States Navy from 1955 until 1961, and retired after working many years as an electrician for Westinghouse and International Paper. Mr. Croft loved fishing for redbreast in the swamp, gardening, and most of all his family. He also was very active in his grandchildren's lives; avidly attending and supporting them at sporting events and any other thing they did, as well as always ensuring that they were attending church.

He was a devoted member of Brunson Baptist Church where he served many years as a Deacon. He centered his life around his Lord and stayed active in the church serving on many committees such as the property committee, homecoming committee, and countless others throughout the years. Mr. Croft will be remembered as a strong man of the Lord always working at the church and helping others.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 57 years, Daisy Ann Terry Croft, of the home; his sons: Keith Croft (Sherri) of Prosperity, Kevin Croft (Kala) of Cummings, and Dwayne Croft of Florence, Kentucky; his daughter, Dena Rodriguez of Belleair Bluffs, Florida; one sister, Vivian Grubbs of Barnwell, and his nine adored grandchildren: Megan (Scott), Abby, Karli, Rowen, Brody, Steven, Cory, Jerome, and Jennifer. There are also four great-grandchildren: Dalton, Aubrey, Kinsley, and Gabriel.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Croft was predeceased by a son, Jeff Croft; a son-in-law, Ernie Rodriguez; a sister, Ramona Cash, and a great-grandson, Weston Scott Jarrell.

Funeral Services will be 3 PM Friday, October 17, 2025, in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry St. W., Hampton, SC 29924, conducted by Rev. R.P. Hodge and Rev. Howard Black. Burial will follow in the Rivers Cemetery near Brunson.

Visitation will begin at 2 PM and last until the hour of the service in the chapel.

The family requests that those who wish may send memorials in Mr. Croft's memory to the Brunson Baptist Church, P.O. Box 70, Brunson, SC 29911 or to the Rivers Cemetery, c/o Dawn Winn, 4935 Prince William Road, Brunson, SC 29911.

The family would also like to send a special thank you to Sylvia Priester and Agape Hospice for their care of Mr. Croft during his final days.
