Virginia Belger Bishop

Mrs. Virginia Belger Bishop, 88, of Christiana Estates in Allendale died Tuesday morning at her residence after an extended illness.

Mrs. Bishop was born December 9, 1929 in Hampton County, a daughter of the late Raymond Aiken Belger and Leanora Clifton Belger.  She graduated from Brunson High School, was a very active member of the Allendale First Baptist Church and was a homemaker.  She was the widow of William Walton Bishop.

Surviving are:  sons:  Randy Bishop and wife Tamra of Brunson, Barry Bishop and partner Billy of Los Angeles;  daughters:  Dr. Janice Zissette Bishop of Allendale, and Sandra Polk and husband Dickie of Hampton;  sisters:  Wilma McMillan of Hampton and Veda McMillen of Charleston;  daughter-in-law:  Linda Bishop of Poquoson, Virginia;  and grandchildren:  Jana and Brian O'Grady, Matthew Zissette, Amanda Fischer and Daniel, Wendy Mills and Jeremy, Cassie Burnette and Daniel, Jessie Bishop, Carrie Bess Benton and Robbie, and Leanora Bishop.  There are 7 great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Bishop was predeceased by her husband;  son:  William W. "Billy" Bishop, Jr.;  sisters:  Lavinia, Sadie, Norine, Lois and her youngest sister, Frances Belger who died on Wednesday morning, October 31, 2018 in Smithfield, NC;  brothers:  Raymond and wife Marjorie Belger, Willie James Belger and Tommie Belger.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton, conducted by Rev. Carol Holladay with burial in the Hickory Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 PM at the Chapel in Hampton located at 300 Mulberry Street West.
