Miss Virginia "Ginger" Ann Barfield, 83, resident of Clarke Avenue in Estill, SC, formerly of Garnett, SC, died Wednesday morning, April 22, 2026, in Trident Medical Center.
Born January 30, 1943, in Scotia, SC, Miss Barfield was the youngest daughter of the late Joseph Edwin Barfield and Pattie Lou Smith Barfield. She was employed at the Galaxy Grocery Store in Estill. Previously, she had also worked at the local assisted living home after a successful career as a seamstress in several garment and apparel factories. At one time, she was also the co-owner and operator of A & G (Agnes & Ginger) Korner Shop in Estill. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, reading, and interacting with her tropical fish.
Miss Barfield, who was also known as "Ginger", was an active member of Estill United Methodist Church in Estill.
She is survived by her beloved sister, Josephine Barfield of Gadsen, AL. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews, other extended family members, friends, and neighbors.
Miss Barfield was predeceased by her brothers, Edward Barfield and Lee Barfield, as well as her sisters, Louise B. Rivers and Agnes B. Smith.
Funeral Services will be 11 AM Saturday, April 25, 2026, in the Estill Methodist Church, located at 358 Keene Ave., Estill, SC 29918, conducted by Rev. Dewey Shaffer. Burial will follow in the Black Swamp Methodist Church Cemetery in Garnett, SC.
Visitation will be from 5 PM – 7 PM Friday evening, April 24, 2026, at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, Hampton Chapel, located at 300 Mulberry St. W., Hampton, SC 29924.
Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home is assisting the Barfield family during this time.
