Verna Jean Ragas

Mrs. Verna Jean Herrington Ragas of Furman, formerly of New Orleans, died Tuesday, May 23, 2023, in the National Health Care Facility in Bluffton.

Mrs. Ragas was born April 26, 1937 in Baxley, Georgia a daughter of the late Jehu Herrington and Louise Johnson Herrington. She was a Book keeper.

Surviving are:  Sons:  James Cook of Furman and Leonard Cook of Atlanta; Daughter:  Janet Shuman of Furman; Brother:  Donald Herrington of Baxley, Georgia and a Sister:  Helen Davis of Baxley, Georgia. There are Six Grandchildren, Nine Great Grandchildren, and One Great Great Grandchild.

Mrs. Ragas was predeceased by her husband:  Victor Ragas; Sons:  Abram Cook Jr. and Steve Cook; Grandchildren:  Stacey Shuman, Abram Cook III, and Dylan Cook; Three Brothers and One Sister.

Services will be held at a later date in the Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna, Louisiana. Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home is assisting the family with local arrangements.
