Verlean Deloach

Mrs. Verlean Bowers DeLoach passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the MUSC Health Florence Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina at the age of 91.

Mrs. DeLoach was born October 6, 1932, in Hampton, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Vaney Bowers and Tiney Bowers.  She worked as a seamstress.

She is survived by daughter Bonnie Vaughn (Randy) of Hampton and son Archie DeLoach of Hampton.  Grandsons Eric Vaughn (Lacy) of Cummings and Joel Vaughn (Bain) of Hampton; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Vaughn, Laney Vaughn, Wylder Vaughn, Randi Vaughn, Bowers (Bo) Vaughn, and Sonny Vaughn; and brothers George Bowers (Brigette) of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Buddy Bowers (Rhonda) of Estill; sisters Patsy Lake of Summerville, and Carolyn Stevens of Hampton; several nieces, and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband Herbert Lee DeLoach, Father Vaney Bowers, mother Tiney Bowers, and brothers Mack Bowers and Ralph Bowers; sister Mattie Bagwell.

Mrs. DeLoach was a member of Sand Hill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 62 years.  Her mission and ministry in life was serving others as she loved to bake cakes, bread, and her famous "Chewies" as a gift of friendship. Mrs. DeLoach loved people and interacting with them on any occasion and she never met a stranger.  She was an active member of PERK at Sand Hill, the Hopewell Seniors Group, and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary.

Receiving of friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Sandhill Baptist Church located at 15480 Pocotaligo Road in Varnville, SC.  Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Howard Black and will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary.  The interment will be in the Sandhill Cemetery immediately following the service.

The family requests memorials be made in Mrs. DeLoach's memory to Sandhill Cemetery Fund in the care of Margaret Mathis 303 Crooked Creek Road, Hampton, SC  29924.
