Tommy Brown

Mr. Thomas Patrick "Tommy" Brown, Sr., 79, of Ellis Street in Hampton, died Thursday afternoon, November 19, 2020 at his residence.

Mr. Brown was born May 3, 1941 in the Miley community in Hampton County, a son of the late Patrick Henry "Pat" Brown and Virginia "Virgie" Bowers Brown.  He had worked with the Lance Company as a Route Salesman for 35 years.  He attended Clemson University where he  played in the band.  He served in the Air Force from 1960 to 1964 and was a member of Varnville First Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon, choir member and member of the Railroad Sunday School Class.  Mr. Brown was also a member of the Hampton Fire Department, was a Mason, a Shriner, a member of American Legion Post 108, the announcer with Wade Hampton football and had been inducted into the Hall of Fame.  He also served as umpire with the Women's Softball League.

Left to cherish his memories are:  his wife Louise McAlhaney Brown of Hampton; son:  Pat Brown and wife Kelly of Evans, Georgia; daughter:  Nancy B. Meyer and husband Mike of Varnville; grandchildren:  Chris Brown and Josh Meyer; and two step-grandchildren:  Meghan and Miranda Whitfield.  He was predeceased by his parents and a sister Rachel Tharpe.

Graveside services will be 3 PM Sunday, November 22, 2020 in the Sandy Run Cemetery conducted by Rev. Dr. Tommy Kelly and Rev. Roger Dobbins and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.

There will be a time of visitation immediately following the service at the cemetery.
