Tom Moomey

Mr. Thomas Jay "Tom" Moomey, 65, of Charleston Highway near Hampton, died Thursday morning, December 3, 2020 at Hampton Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Moomey was born November 8, 1955 in Cadillac, Michigan, a son of the late Miles Morris Moomey and Helen Vincent Moomey.  He was a Veteran of the Marine Corp.  Tom's passion in life was restoring classic vehicles.  When he wasn't working on a vehicle you could find him at McDonald's striking up a conversation with anyone that came in.  Tom never met a stranger.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughters:  Samantha Dennis and Jennifer Weaver (Ryan) both of Michigan; step-sons:  Stephen Butler (Hillary) of Australia, Nathanael Butler, Samuel Butler (Hannah) and Gabriel Butler, all of Michigan; brothers:  Roger Moomey (Jan), Joseph Moomey (Carole) and David Moomey (Vanessa), all of Michigan; sisters:  Letha McGraw (Doug) of Michigan, Darlene Barkdull (Cleve) of Utah, Rose Graves (James) of Virginia, Charlene Saunders (Gary) of Virginia and Rhonda Shaw (Larry) of Michigan; his soul mate:  Bobbi Moomey; 11 grandchildren  and a special friend, who was like a son, Sidharth Kanaan.  There are  numerous nieces and nephews.  Mr. Moomey was predeceased by his parents, a brother Marvin Moomey, sister and brother-in-law Linda and Larry Cooley and a daughter-in-law Donnie Butler.

A memorial service will be held at 1 PM Friday, December 11, 2020 at the Varnville Baptist Church Family Life Center conducted by Rev. Dr. Tommy Kelly and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.

The family will visit with friends immediately following the service.
