Rev. Thomas Raymond Smith

Rev. Thomas Raymond Smith of Thorn Circle near Estill, died Sunday night at his residence after a brief illness.

Mr. Smith was born June 27, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa, a son of the late Raymond and Viola Ranta Smith.  He had retired as a teacher in the Middle and High Schools in Jacksonville, Florida, and then settled in Hampton County.  He also, served as Pastor of the Gillette United Methodist Church and the Swallow Savannah United Methodist Church in Allendale.

Surviving are:  One son:  Eric Thomas Smith and wife Melissa of Jacksonville, Florida; two grandchildren:  Nathan and Jordan Smith also, of Jacksonville, Florida; and a special friend:  Crystal Sharpe of Estill.

Graveside services will be 2 P.M. Friday in the Hampton Cemetery, directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton.  Visitation will be immediately following the services at the cemetery.
