Mrs. Shirley Mixson Baldwin of Mixon Road on St. Helena Island in Beaufort County died Tuesday afternoon in the Allendale County Hospital.
Mrs. Baldwin was born in Horry County, October 28, 1937, a daughter of the late William Travis Mixson and Clara Harrelson Mixson. She had retired from Westinghouse Corporation in Hampton after 38 years as a Quality Control Inspector and was a member of the Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
Mrs. Baldwin was very active for many years pursuing her love for the outside world. She was passionate about her flowers, her garden, and all of the "yard work" that came with it. In addition to being fond of all forms of beach life, she was also an exceptional water skier in her time who would eagerly bait a crab trap or fish hook without hesitation. She greatly loved, was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are: her husband: Lester Ricks of St. Helena Island; sons: Reece Baldwin and wife Jennifer of Anchorage, Alaska, Scott Baldwin of Aiken, Lee Ricks and wife Christina of Lakeland, Florida, and Shay Ricks of Lakeland, Florida; daughter: Kristen Smith of Lakeland, Florida; brothers: Billy Mixson and wife Fran of Beaufort and Pete Mixson and wife Pam of Hampton; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Mrs. Baldwin was predeceased by a brother, Steve Mixson.
