Samantha Ann Pope

Ms. Samantha Ann Pope, 41, of Altman Road in Hampton, died early Saturday morning, June 13, 2020 at her residence.

Ms. Pope was born July 29, 1978 in Hampton County, a daughter of Susanne Dobson Peeples and Wilson D. Peeples and the late Richard David "Ricky" Pope, Sr.  Sam, as she was affectionately known, was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School where she excelled in running track, cross-country and playing softball.  She had previously attended St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church.

Surviving besides her mother of Varnville are her sons:  Preston Mikell Altman of Hampton and Noah Benjamin Altman of Hampton; sisters:  Nichole L. Pope of Ridgeland, Michelle Peeples Futch of Hampton, Stephanie Robertson of Hendersonville, NC, Kristina Pope Barnes of Garnett and Jessica Pope of Orlando, Florida; brothers:  Richard David Pope, Jr. of Hampton and David Cameron Pope of Greenville; and maternal grandparents:  Robert and Roma S. Dobson of Hampton.  Sam was predeceased by her father, Ricky and her paternal grandparents:  Thomas E. Pope, Sr. and Myrtle Ann Stanley Pope DeLoach.

Graveside services will be Monday at 3 PM in the Sandy Run Cemetery with visitation beginning at 1 PM prior to services at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.

Family members will be at the home of her sister, Michelle at 412 Hoover Street North in Hampton.

The family suggests that those who wish may send memorials in Sam's honor to the Funeral Home.
