Ruth Barnes Rivers

Mrs. Mary Ruth Barnes Rivers, 93, of Spruce Street in Walterboro, died Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at her residence.

Mrs. Rivers was born May 01, 1927 in Hampton County, a daughter of the late James S. Barnes and Phoebe Chesser Barnes.  She had worked as Assistant Manager with Hampton Factory Outlet and was a member of Community Baptist Church in Lodge, South Carolina.  Mrs. Rivers loved working with her flowers and spending time with her children and other family members.

Surviving are her daughters:  Jan R. Crago and husband Bob of Clermont, Florida, Jill Rivers of Savannah, Georgia and Sandra K. Rivers of Hampton, South Carolina; sisters:  Marie Crider of Cope, South Carolina and Kate Cook of Clinton, South Carolina; and a grandson:  Robert R. Crago of Jacksonville, Florida.  Mrs. Rivers was predeceased by a son:  David Carr Rivers; a brother:  Ezzie Williams; and sisters:  Annie Jarrell, Addie Mae Gooding and Betty B. Freeman.

Graveside services will be 11 AM Saturday at Hampton Cemetery, Holly Street East in Hampton, South Carolina conducted by Rev. Johnathan Mixson and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.

Visitation will be immediately following the service at the cemetery.
