Ruth Creswell

Ms. Ruth Lee Butler Creswell, 83, resident of Tinker Town Road in Brunson SC, died peacefully at her residence Monday; July 1, 2024, after an extended illness.

Born May 20, 1941, in Middletown, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Boyd Butler and Hilda Marie Wilt Butler. Ms. Creswell worked many years as a nurse at Allendale County Hospital and was known to be dedicated to her work volunteering to cover shifts for others and work holidays. She was also a talented seamstress, artist, and quiltmaker. Ms. Creswell will be remembered for the love she had for her family and her charitable nature, having been known to donate to every organization she could.

Surviving are her sons: Terry Donald Creswell, Jr. and his wife Donna of Brunson and Tommy Lee Creswell of Aiken, her daughter: Terry Lynne Musser of Sycamore; sister: Sylvia Phillips of Douglasville, GA, and her grandchildren: Stacey Lee (Alexis), Joey, Sam (Abbey), Adam, Evan, and Lynne (Alex). She is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Creswell was predeceased by her brother: Samuel "Pete" Butler, and sisters: Shirley Wheeler and Selva Jean Butler, a grandson: Zackary Clayton Creswell; and a daughter: Polly Anna Musser Smith.

Memorial services will be held privately by the family at a later date.
