Rufus Martin Nesbitt

EARLY BRANCH DATELINE:

Mr. Rufus Martin Nesbitt of Ficken Road in Early Branch, died Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at his residence after an extended illness.

Mr. Nesbitt was born March 23, 1940 in Sumter, a son of the late Martin Nesbitt and Bertha Herrington Nesbitt. He had retired from the South Carolina Highway Department, in the Maintenance Department. He was a member of the Higher Ground Church, and loved being in the Outdoors, and especially cutting his grass and keeping the yard neat.

Surviving are:  His wife:  Barbara Miller Hudson Nesbitt of Early Branch, and her friends would remember her working at Ernie's Restaurant in Estill; One son:  T. C. Hudson of Fairfax; Daughters:  Teresa  Stokes of Summerville, and Robin Boyles of Minnesota; Brother:  Jimmy Nesbitt of Andrews; and Sisters:  Mary Watford of Sumter, and Betty McCollum of Bamberg; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 1 P. M. Saturday, May 13, 2023, in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Yemassee, directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin at the Funeral Home, located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton, at 11 A. M. Saturday prior to the services.
