Ruby Lathan

Ms. Ruby Lee Rosier Lathan, 63, resident of Clifton Drive in Hampton County, passed away Friday evening, November 14, 2025, at her residence.

Born May 28, 1962, in Jacksonville, Florida, Ms. Lathan was the daughter of the late Riley and Cora O'Steen Rosier. Raised in Jacksonville, she attended Englewood High School and went on to work in many capacities throughout her life. Ms. Lathan notably worked as a custodian for Wade Hampton High School and several years as a waitress at Ernie's Restaurant in Hampton. She will be remembered for the love that she had for her family.

Surviving are her sons, Carlton Edward Lathan, Jr. of Hampton and Courtney Justin Lathan of Hampton; sisters, Karen Dewald of Jacksonville, Florida and Gail Matthews of Middleburg, Florida and her granddaughter, Carrie Lathan of Savannah, Georgia.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Carlton "Rusty" Edward Lathan, Sr. and several siblings.

Funeral Services will be 11 AM Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton, conducted by Rev. Jim Brown and Rev. Dr. Tommy Kelly. Burial will follow in the Black Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5 PM – 7 PM Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry St. W., Hampton, SC 29924.
