Roy Wooten, Sr.

Mr. Allen L. (Roy) Wooten, 86, of Scotia, South Carolina went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.

Roy, known affectionately as "Pappy" to many, was born  January 27, 1935 in Hampton County to the late John Franklin Wooten and Lettie Hadwin Wooten.  Roy worked at Southern Soya, Inc. all of his adult life.  He became Plant Manager until 1994 when he was injured in a work-place accident.  He was on the Scotia Town Council for many years and served as Mayor of Scotia for 16 years.  He was a loyal member of Steep Bottom Baptist Church and served as Head of Deacons for many years.  He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Surviving are his sons:  Lee Wooten and wife Alison of Estill and Edgar Wooten of Lena; daughter-in-law:  Tressy Wooten of Nixville; grandchildren:  Ashton, Jessica, Andrew, Candy and husband PeeWee, Travis and wife Brook, Heather and Dawson; great-grandchildren:  Noah, Sage, Landon, Mekhi, Marya, TJ, Jack and Adam; brother:  Dean Wooten; sister:  Helouise DeLoach and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his parents, his loving wife Jeanne, brothers:  John, Nathan, Ray and Franklin; and sisters Clotiel, Viola, Juanita and Marie.

Graveside services will be held 3 PM Saturday, January 30th, at Lebanon Cemetery conducted by Pastor Brian Toney and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home of Hampton.

Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service.
