Robert Clifton, Jr.

Mr. Robert Francis Clifton, Jr., 79, of Varnville, died Tuesday afternoon, January 12, 2021 in the Hampton Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.

Mr. Clifton was born January 4, 1942 in Varnville, a son of the late Robert F. Clifton, Sr. and Gladys Stanley Clifton.  He was a retired mechanic, enjoyed fishing and Nascar.

Surviving are his sons:  Robert Marcus Clifton and wife Paula of Nixville and Wally Clifton and wife Tara of Hampton; daughters:  Kim Moody and husband Mike of Nebo, NC, Kelly Rhoden and fiance' Gregg Freeman of Varnville, Julie Long and husband Mel of Hampton and Wendy Kinard and husband Stephen of Sycamore; brother:  Harry Clifton of Hartsville; and sisters:  Barbara Tuten of Columbia and Linda Nettles of Ft. Lauderdale.  There are many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Mr. Clifton was predeceased by his wife Sara O'Quinn Clifton; son:  Michael Alan Clifton; and sisters:  Betty Priester, Delores Hadwin and Dot Litchfield.

Graveside services will be 4 PM Thursday in the Sandy Run Cemetery conducted by Rev. Brian Trent and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.

Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service at the cemetery.
