Richard Becker

Mr. Richard Joseph Becker, 95, of Augusta Stage Coach Road in the Garnett area near Estill, died early Thursday morning, August 19, 2021, at Woodside Plantation.

Mr. Becker was born August 7, 1926 in Skokie, Illinois, a son of the late Maximillian Becker and Mary Jaszczak Becker.  He enlisted in the Navy toward the end of World War II and after his discharge worked as groundskeeper for Big Foot Country Club in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin for 28 years.  After his retirement in 1979 he moved to Hampton County and purchased Woodside Plantation where he lived until his death.

He is survived by a sister, Marianna B. Spatzek of Batavia, Illinois; special friend, Marcia Wood of Varnville and 43 nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at Woodside Plantation.

Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home of Hampton is assisting the family with arrangements.
