Reginald "Reggie" Gooding Smith

Mr. Reginald "Reggi" Gooding Smith of Lightsey Street Extension in Hampton died Thursday evening at his residence after an extended illness.

Mr. Smith was born September 6, 1938 in Savannah, a son of the late Albert Vernon Smith and Gertrude Gooding Smith.  He had retired from Georgia Pacific as a Lead Operator and was also a Saw Sharpener.  He had retired from the National Guard, was a member of the Stafford Masonic Lodge and the Varnville First Baptist Church.

Surviving are:  Daughter:  Jo Ann Rushing and husband Matt of Summerville; and two grandchildren:  Mikaela and Alex Rushing; also a special friend and caregiver, Elaine Hadwin.

Funeral services will be 3 P.M. Sunday in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home with burial in the Hampton Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

Visitation will be Saturday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.
