Mr. Ray Harris Shaffer of Aiken, died Sunday at his residence peacefully in his sleep.
Mr. Shaffer was born in Beaufort, January 24, 1934 a son of the late Cleavie and Pollie Connelly Shaffer. He had enlisted in the Air Force, and had settled in California while serving in the Military. After retirement he moved back to Aiken to be close to his son, and other family members. He had served in the Air Force for over 22 years.
Surviving are: sons: Ray Shaffer, Jr. and wife Roxanne of Aiken, and David Shaffer and wife Zeda of Sacramento, California, and Fred McLeod of Clarkston, Washington; Daughters: Rose Rabourn Waters and husband Darrel of Palmdale, California, Shara Westbrook Ari of San Diego, California, Mary Espinoza of Altus, Oklahoma; Brother: Ralph Shaffer and wife Linda of Hampton; and thirteen grandchildren: David, Tammy, Alyssa, Joshua Scott, Allie, Camden, Jay, Anthony, Kaylee, Brittney, Kaylani, James, and Jessica.
Mr. Shaffer was predeceased by his parents; Son: Joe Espinoza, Brothers: Leon and Junior Shaffer; and Sisters: Doris Keller and Kathryn Patrick.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Saturday in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial in the Johnson-St. Paul Cemetery with Military Honors.
Visitation will be Saturday morning beginning at 10 A.M. at the funeral home, prior to the services.
