Ray Dolph Cooper

Mr. Ray Dolph Cooper of Coffee Corner Avenue in Furman died Wednesday afternoon at his residence.

Mr. Cooper was born in Kline August 31, 1930, a son of the late Ray and Gladys McTeer Cooper and was married to the late Vera Smith Cooper.  He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Furman United Methodist Church.  Ray was a member of the Stafford Masonic Lodge # 216, The American Legion Post # 108 in Hampton, and the Coastal Amateur Radio Association where he was an Amateur Radio "Ham" Operator – V4ZQF.  He was the owner and operator of Smith and Cooper Company in Furman for 45 years.

Surviving are:  Sons:  Mark G. Cooper and wife Mary and Ray Dennis Cooper and wife Monikue both of Furman;  Grandchildren:  Mark Daniel Cooper, Laura Madeline Cooper, Heather Heape Cook and Allana Harley Seegers.  There are 3 great-grandchildren.  Mr. Cooper was predeceased by a brother, Evander M. Cooper.

Also, a special thanks to Mr. Cooper's devoted caregivers:  Mary "Rose" Parker and Beatrice Bostick.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday in the Furman United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Dewey Shaffer with burial in the Lebanon Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 PM at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.
