Ralph Kent "Bubba" Godley

Mr. Ralph Kent “Bubba” Godley, 68, former resident of Chanel Drive in Varnville, SC, passed away Friday, June 19, 2026, at the home of his friend in Olar, SC.

Born September 19, 1957, in Walterboro, SC, Mr. Godley was the son of the late James Edward Godley and the late Beatrice Gray Godley. He was a graduate of Ruffin High School and worked many years in the sawmilling and lumber industry in various capacities. Mr. Godley enjoyed fishing and will be remembered for his ability to make others smile or laugh. He enjoyed life and that illuminated to others around him.

Mr. Godley was a member of Peniel Baptist Church.

Surviving is his son, Ralph Kent Godley, Jr. of Walterboro; his brothers and sisters: Harris Godley (Diane) of Rum Gully, Shirley “Cissy” Poston of Walterboro, Steven Godley of Walterboro, David Godley (Trudy) of Islandton, and Rose Sullivan of Varnville, and his special friend, Shirley Smith of Olar. There are also numerous nieces and nephews as well as countless dear friends who survive.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Godley was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Debra Godley.

Funeral Services will be 11 AM Tuesday, June 23, 2026, in the Peniel Baptist Church located at 37 Forks Rd., Islandton, SC 29929. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 10 AM prior and last until the hour of the service in the church sanctuary.

Pallbearers will be Chris Sullivan, Dustin Sullivan, J.W. Godley, Andrew Godley, Devin White, and Christopher Wilson, Jr.
