Mrs. Peggy Ann Lee Strickland, 79, resident of Country Club Road in Hampton, wife of Travis E. Strickland, died Monday evening, February 17, 2025, in the Allendale County Hospital in Fairfax, SC.

Born November 9, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, Mrs. Strickland was the daughter of the late Rueben Daniel Lee and the late Bernice Polk Gooding.  She was a 1964 graduate of Wade Hampton High School where she was proudly a cheerleader and majorette for the high school, and had formerly worked for Hampton County Bank, DSS, and Nix Florist. Most importantly she was a homemaker who loved her family, her beloved dog, Gracie, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was lovingly called Nonnie or Honey by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she adored.

Mrs. Strickland was a member of Nixville Baptist Church, was a former Girl Scout Leader, was a former member of the Rincon Lions Club, and was a former youth leader at Sand Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Travis E. Strickland, of the home; her children: Laurie Cannon (Frank) of Columbia, Mark Strickland (Karen) of Savannah, Georgia, Cindy Jarrell (Rodney) of Hampton, and Julie Lee (Joey) of Vicksburg, Mississippi; one sister, Robin Walker (Hal); two sisters-in-law, Judith Herron and Shirley Caines; her grandchildren:  Brittany Strickland, Addison Jarrell (Delayna), Austin Jarrell, Skylar Strickland (Kiersten), Blakelee Dunkelberg (David), Alexis Bryant (Patrick), Katelynn Cannon, Garrett Lee, and Steven Lee.  There are also 8 great grandchildren, Kaiden, Raelynn, Theo, Brinley, Declan, Harrison, Micah, and Leland.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Strickland was predeceased by her brother, John Lee.

Funeral Services will be 2 PM, Saturday, February 22, 2025 in the Nixville Baptist Church. Burial will following in the Gooding Cemetery near Hampton.

A visitation will begin at 1 PM and will last until the hour of service in the sanctuary.

The family requests that those who wish may send memorials in Mrs. Strickland's honor to the Nixville Baptist Church, 3915 Two Sisters Ferry Road, Estill, SC 29918.

Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home is assisting the Strickland family during this time.
