Ms. Patricia Ann Fort Cassidy, 74, resident of Harris Loop in Varnville, SC, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2026, in the Hampton Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
Patricia was born March 28, 1952, in the home of her parents, the late Walter Lee Fort and Lois Elizabeth Morton Fort, in Guyton, Georgia at Griffin Lakes. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Patricia loved flowers and planted many over her life; even winning a contest in Effingham County in the 1980s for having the "most beautiful flowerbed". A member of the Baptist Church, Patricia taught Children's Sunday School and GA's. She also drove the church bus. Patricia worked at Kroger and Rahn's Greenhouse in GA. She was a certified CNA and worked at Effingham Hospital.
In 2007, Patricia moved to Hampton where she worked at Bi-Lo Grocery Store for several years.
She deeply loved her family and enjoyed caring for her three grandchildren and great grandson.
Surviving are her daughter Melissa Ann Armstrong (Timothy) of Varnville; her granddaughters, Amanda Armstrong and Samantha Leavens; her grandson, Timothy Armstrong, Jr., and her great-grandson, Sawyer Leavens all of Varnville. She is also survived by her brothers; Wayne Fort of Guyton, GA, Bruce Fort of Lake City FL, Gary Fort of Guyton, GA, Dwayne Fort of Springfield, GA and her sister, Debbie Gwinette of Statesboro GA; along with many nieces and nephews.
Patricia was predeceased by her infant son, Lawrence Richard Edwards, Jr., two brothers, Rock Fort and Duke Fort, a sister, Sandra Zinskie, and one close friend, Lawrence Richard Edwards.
Memorial Services will be 11 AM, Saturday, May 2, 2026, in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, Hampton, SC, conducted by Rev. Dr. Tommy Kelly.
Visitation will begin at 10 AM and last until the hour of the service at the funeral home located at 300 Mulberry St. W., Hampton, SC 29924.
Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home is assisting the Cassidy family during this time.
