Pat Nix

Mr. Larry Patrick "Pat" Nix passed away at his home on Sunday morning, November 05, 2023.

Pat was born in Hampton, South Carolina on November 25, 1948.  He was the son of the late A. J. Nix, Sr. and Fannie Pender Nix.  Pat retired from Georgia-Pacific and then finished his work career at Collum's Lumber in Allendale and Elliott Sawmill in Estill.  Pat was an upbeat and happy person who was gifted with a quick wit that could always make you laugh.  Simple things brought him enjoyment such as riding his tractor to cut grass, riding through Hampton to pick up a newspaper, casting his line for a fish, or just chatting with someone.  He loved God, his family, and country.  One of the greatest loves was being "Pops" to his grandson and watching him play sports.  Pat and his wife were Gamecock fans who enjoyed "tailgating" in their living room with their snacks watching football on Saturdays and watching the Gamecock ladies' basketball.  Pat honorably and proudly served his country in the United States Marines and was a Vietnam Veteran.  He was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church, but attended Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Pat is survived by his wife, Mary Frances of Hampton; son, Grover Patrick Nix and his wife, Malissa, of Savannah, GA; grandson, Caleb Patrick Nix, of Savannah, GA; brothers, Jimmy Nix and his wife, Ruby of Brunson, SC and Johnny Nix and his wife, Betty Jo of Fernandina Beach, Florida and Brunson, sister-in-law, Joan Nix of Orangeburg, brother-in-law, Ronnie Metts and his wife, Juli, of Cummings, SC.  Pat was preceded in death by his brothers:  A. J. Nix, Jr. and William (Frances), and sisters:  Shirley Wingler (Roy), Marilyn Crosby, and Beatrice Thomas (Buddy).

Graveside services will be Wednesday, November 08, 2023 at Johnson-St. Paul Cemetery in Hampton at 11:00 am, conducted by Rev. Gary Finch and Rev. Dr. Shirley Dempsey, Chaplin.  Visitation beginning an hour before service at the cemetery.  Services directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, 300 Mulberry Street, Hampton.
