Orrie Varn Jr.

Mr. Orrie Franklin Varn, Jr., passed away Friday morning, January 26, 2024 at the Pines Assisted Living Facility in Bluffton, South Carolina.

Mr. Varn was born January 07, 1945 in Hampton County, the son of the late Orrie Franklin Varn, Sr. and Marie Miley Varn.  He worked in the asphalt paving business; he was a member of Hilton Head Island Chamber of Commerce and the South Carolina National Guard.  He attended Varnville United Methodist Church, and enjoyed golfing, boating, shagging, Clemson Football, but his most enjoyment was watching his grandchildren play sports.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra of Bluffton; sons, Trey Varn and wife Jennifer of Duncan, South Carolina and Scott Varn and wife, Laura of Daniel Island, South Carolina; grandchildren, Jake, Maddie, Brett and Chase; mother-in-law, Joan Callaway; brother-in-law's, Robert Callaway and wife Carla of New Jersey, Jesse Sheppard of Beaufort, South Carolina; sister-in-law's, Linda Dyches of Hampton, South Carolina and Sandra Sease of Ehrhardt, South Carolina.  Orrie is predeceased by his first wife, Brenda Mixon Varn.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 02, 2024 at the Varnville United Methodist Church, conducted by Pastor Jack Hutto and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial in the Varnville Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests consider memorials in memory of Orrie to Varnville United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 45, Hampton, South Carolina 29924.

The family gives a special thanks to the care given by Hospice of the Lowcountry and the Pines at Bluffton Nursing Facility.
