Norman Gardelle Rentz, Jr.

Mr. Norman Gardelle Rentz, Jr. of West Carolina Avenue, Varnville, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023  at his residence in Varnville.

Mr. Rentz was born December 31, 1946 in Savannah, a son of the late Norman G. Rentz, Sr. and Hilda Tuten Rentz.  He was a Clemson graduate, and had worked most of his career in banking, with the Hampton County Bank and Palmetto Federal.  He had served in the National Guard and was a member of the Varnville First Baptist Church.  He enjoyed painting, spending time outdoors, cruising timber, gardening, and spending time with his friends at the local coffee shop.

Surviving are his wife, Eva Elena Espinoza Rentz of Varnville, daughters, Lindsay Beth Cobb and husband Chris of Taylors and Arianna Rentz-Espinoza of Spartanburg, brother, Marion Rentz and wife Faye of Greenville and grandchildren Taylor and Hayley Cobb.  Mr. Rentz was predeceased by a daughter, Krysta Lamb.

Funeral services will be held November 22, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton, with burial in the Varnville Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday morning prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am at the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.
