Norman Allen Mcmillan, Sr.

Mr. Norman Allen McMillan, Sr. of Ellis Street in Hampton died Tuesday evening at his residence after an extended illness.

Mr. McMillan was born June 16, 1933 in Ehrhardt, a son of the late James Vernon McMillan and Thelma Sue Priester McMillan.  He had worked with Elliott Sawmill as a Dry Kiln Operator Supervisor for many years and had served in the Hampton National Guard Unit for 16 years.  He was an Ordained Minister, serving at Mt. Olive Baptist Church and Scotia Baptist Church.  He had served as a State Constable for 37 years, was a member of the Evergreen Masonic Lodge for 60 years and a member of the Jahab Shrine for 50 years.  He was a past president of the Woody Williams Saddle Club, was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with his family.  He was a member of the Gideons and the Sandy Run Baptist Church.

Surviving are:  His wife of 65 years, Wilma Adrienne Belger McMillan of Hampton; and children:  Faye Mole (Clary), Libby Crosby (Edwin, Sr.), Allen McMillan, Jr. (Val), and Joy Ginn (Derryl, Sr.). There are 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  Mr. McMillan was predeceased by a brother, Jim McMillan.

Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Friday in the Sandy Run Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Paul Reid, Rev. Dr. Tommy Kelly and Rev. Mike Freeman, with burial in the Sandy Run Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 P.M. at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.
