Nita Getridge

Miss Juanita "Nita" Rose Getridge, 58, of Pond Town Road near Brunson, died Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at her home after a brief illness.

Born January 1, 1968, in Allendale County, Miss Nita was the daughter of the late Garnett Sidney "Buck" Getridge and Rose Ollie Freeman Getridge. She was a class of 1986 graduate of Wade Hampton High School. After high school, Nita worked in Savannah, Georgia at Johnson Construction. In 1998 she started working at the Hampton Animal Hospital where she was a devoted employee the last 28 years. Nita enjoyed her weekends on the lake, loved cooking and helped take care of many elderly friends over the years.

She was a dedicated member of Brunson Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. At the church, she also sang in the choir and was involved in numerous other church activities.

Surviving are her sisters, Wanda Walker and husband Ed of Cummings and Cindy Gosnell of Jonesville, NC; her brother, J. Getridge and wife LeAnne of Brunson, and her life partner of 10 years, Jay Lee of Eutawville. Nita has many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She also is survived by three loving fur babies; Lucky, Milo, and Peanut.

Nita is predeceased by her father, Garnet Sidney "Buck" Getridge and her mother, Rose "Ollie" Getridge.

Funeral Services will be 3 PM Sunday, April 19, 2026, in the Brunson Baptist Church located at 63 S. Manker St., Brunson, SC 29911. Burial will follow in the Rivers Cemetery near Brunson.

Visitation will be 5 PM – 7 PM Saturday evening, April 18, 2026, at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, Hampton Chapel, located at 300 Mulberry St. W., Hampton, SC 29924.

Pallbearers will be Darren Schroyer, Catlin Schroyer, Jason Schroyer, Cody Getridge, Austin Getridge, Tracy Getridge, and Stanlee Walker.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Amedysis Hospice for their great care of Nita and the exceptional compassion that they have shown over the past few weeks.
