Mr. Newton Elijah "Buddy" O'Quinn Jr. of Corner Lake Road near Early Branch, died Wednesday evening in the Allendale County Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. O'Quinn was born March 5, 1943 in Ridgeland, a son of the late Newton O'Quinn Sr. and Anna Givens O'Quinn. He had retired as an insurance agent with the Farm Bureau Insurance Company, working out of the Varnville Office. He was a member of the New Hope Christian Church, the Evergreen Masonic Lodge, and the Jahab Shrine Club. Mr. O'Quinn had been active with the Watermelon Committee, was a Boy Scout Troop Leader, and had served on the Hampton Fire Department.
Surviving are: Daughter: Susan Padgett and husband Mark of Estill; Son: Gregg O'Quinn and wife Sadika of Aiken; Grandchildren: Christopher Padgett and wife Kristen, Matthew Padgett and wife Elizabeth; Kalila O'Quinn and Briella O'Quinn; and Three Great Grandchildren: Lucas, Bethany, and Levi.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Williams Cemetery in Williams, SC, with Masonic Rites, conducted by Rev. Mark Givens, and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.
