Mrs. Nancy Lucretia Sumler Crosby, 71, resident of Hendersonville Highway in Yemassee, widow of the late Lewis Crosby, Jr., passed away early Thursday morning, April 2, 2026, at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston.

Born March 26, 1955, in the Hampton General Hospital, Mrs. Crosby was the daughter of the late John Oliver Sumler and Mildred Lucretia Tuten Sumler. She was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School and retired in 2023 after working over 30 years for Dimension One Management as Property Manager. Mrs. Crosby enjoyed crafting, was great at baking delicious goods, and thoroughly enjoyed growing and tending to beautiful flowers.

She was a dedicated member of Yemassee Baptist Church where she was active in many church activities; supporting the church in various ways over the years through activities such as fundraisers and bake sales.

Surviving is her son, John Peeples (Trish) of Varnville; her daughter, Melanie Dandridge (Cliff) of Cottageville; her step-children, Tommy Crosby (Leah) and Paul Crosby both of Columbia; her grandchildren:  Seth Tuten (Savannah), Colton Tuten (Rebecca), Taylor Potts (Kyle), Logan Dandridge, Bradley Nettles, Bryton Peeples, and Abby Tuten; her great-grandchildren:  Bowman Tuten, Laken Tuten, Maverick Dandridge, Gates Tuten, and Amelia Tuten; one brother, David Sumler (Donna) of Moncks Corner, and a sister-in-law, Virginia Sumler of Brunson. There is also a lifelong best friend, Teresa Clement of Varnville, and several nieces, nephews, and dear friends who survive.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Crosby is predeceased by her husband, Lewis "L.C." Crosby, Jr.; a grandson, Tate Tuten, and two brothers, Leroy and Richard Sumler.

Funeral Services will be 11 AM Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in the Yemassee Baptist Church located at 127 Salkehatchie Road, Yemassee, SC 29945, conducted by Pastor Heyward Evans. Burial will follow in the Varnville Cemetery in Varnville.

Visitation will be from 5 PM – 7 PM Monday evening, April 6, 2026, at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, Hampton Chapel located at 300 Mulberry St. W., Hampton, SC 29924.

The family requests that those who wish send memorials to the Yemassee Baptist Church, 127 Salkehatchie Rd., Yemassee, SC 29945.
