Mr. Miles Edward Freeman, 77, of Pond Town Road near Brunson, died Thursday morning at his residence.
Mr. Freeman was born November 13, 1940 in Hampton County, a son of the late J.G. Freeman and Ernestine Donehue Freeman. He retired from Westinghouse Corporation in Hampton after 43 years of service as a Quality Manager. He served in the Hampton National Guard Unit, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer # 3 with 30 years of service. He was a member of the Brunson Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Chairman, Sunday School and Training Union Director, R.A. Director and sang in the church choir. Mr. Freeman also served on the Hampton County School Board and coached Little League Football.
Surviving are: his wife: Shirley Ann Ayer Freeman of Brunson; son: Gregg Freeman and wife Janet of Brunson; daughter: Penny Young and husband John of Aiken; sisters: Geneva Kinard, Ollie Gethridge and Linda Sullivan, all of Brunson; grandchildren: Paul Young and wife Amanda, Trey Young and wife Kara, Chase, Dylan and Devin Freeman; great-grandchildren: Ashlynn and Kayleigh Freeman and Aubrey Young and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Freeman was predeceased by a brother, Oliver Freeman and an infant sister, Eloise.
Funeral services will be Sunday, May 27th, at 3 PM in the Brunson Baptist Church conducted by Rev. R.P. Hodge with burial in the Rivers Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 26th, from 5 to 7 PM at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.
