Mr. James Maxwell "Max" Hogarth, Sr., 94, of Dogwood Drive in Brunson, died Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at the Medical University Hospital in Charleston.
Mr. Hogarth was born October 21, 1926 in Brunson, a son of the late W. F. Hogarth and Edith Myers Hogarth. He was a Navy Veteran serving during World War II and had been a member of Brunson Baptist Church since 1935. He was an active member of the Brunson Lions Club and enjoyed woodworking, making and repairing all sorts of items for the community and the church. He formerly owned and operated Hogarth's Grocery in Brunson for many years until his retirement. He was married to the late Mary Lee Hollifield Hogarth.
Surviving is his son Jim Hogarth and wife Vicki of Harleyville, Pennsylvania; his daughter Holly Warner of Rock Hill; and grandchildren Will Warner, Katie Warner, Meridith Hogarth and James Hogarth, III.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday, February 20, 2021 in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton conducted by Rev. R.P. Hodge with burial in the Brunson Cemetery.
Visitation will begin Saturday at 1 PM at the Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton prior to the service.
