Mary Ann Stanley

Mrs. Mary Ann Searson Stanley, 71, of Stanley Loop Road near Varnville died Thursday morning in the Medical University Hospital in Charleston.

Mrs. Stanley was born March 28, 1948 in Hardeeville, a daughter of the late Van Maxwell Searson and Hattie Ellen Cothran Searson.  She had worked with Walterboro Pole Company for 30 years and had attended several churches in the Hampton County area.  She loved her flowers and enjoyed talking and being with her many friends.  Mrs. Stanley was an excellent cook and was known in the community as "Miss Sunshine".

Surviving are her husband:  John Norris Stanley, Jr. of Varnville;  son:  Norris Stanley and friend Tonya Harsey of Varnville;  daughters:  Mary Ellen Stanley DeLoach and friend David Kinard of Varnville, Johnette Stanley Link and husband Russell of Las Vegas, April Stanley Purvis and husband Ty of Callahan, Florida;  brother:  Allen and Jody Searson of Barnwell;  sisters:  Sadie Kinard of Fairfax and Dot Minton of Walterboro;  11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Stanley was predeceased by a daughter Brenda Lee Stanley;  brothers:  Donald and Mack Searson:  sisters:  Harriett Brunson and Blanche Bishop and 3 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 PM in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Barney Tuten and Rev. Allen Cook with burial in the Sandy Run Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 PM at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.
