Mary Ellen Altman Cook

Mrs. Mary Ellen Altman Cook of Altman Road near Hampton, died Saturday evening at her residence after an extended illness.

Mrs. Cook was born May 22, 1946 in Ridgeland, a daughter of the late Henry Franklin Altman Jr. and Sarah Rosa Lee Rivers Altman. She had worked as the Desk Clerk at the Allendale County Hospital, and retired after 40 years of service. Mrs. Cook was a very meticulous person with her work and home life, especially keeping her yard neat and clean. She was a member of the Sandy Run Baptist Church.

Surviving are: Daughter: Lynn Marcom and husband Ricky of Walterboro; Son: John Jay Ruth and wife Donna of Hampton; Brothers: Terrell Altman of Hampton, and Frankie Altman and wife Frankie of Newberry; Grandchildren: Rachael Ruble, Carey Nix, Rebecca Lee, Jenny Johnson, Heather Summerlin, and Jami Kea; and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 4 P.M. Tuesday in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Tim Minchey, with burial in the Sandy Run Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday prior to the services at the Funeral Home, located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton, beginning at 3 P.M
