Marvin Rudolph Kinard

Marvin Rudolph Kinard of Hampton, SC passed away May 7, 2019 at the age of 93 after a brief illness.  He was born March 26, 1926 in Ehrhardt, SC and was the son of Hans Rudolph Kinard and Sadie Loadholt Kinard.

He was married January 25, 1945 to Sara McCoy Kinard and their marriage spanned 69 years until the time of her passing in 2014.  Marvin was an active member at Varnville First Baptist Church.  He was a veteran of WW II having served in the Navy.  He had been active in the Masonic Lodge, the Shriners Organization, and the American Legion.  Marvin had a very successful career in food sales for 30 years handling many of the restaurants in the early development of Hilton Head Island.  He lived life to the fullest, never met a stranger, and had many, many friends from all walks of life.

Survivors include sisters:  Margie K. Harley and Grace K. DeLoach (Don);  daughters:  Kathy K. Garrett, Joan E. Kinard and Sally K. Ellis (David);  grandchildren:  Robin Garrett (Marilyn), Alton Garrett (Patricia), Merri G. Chapman (Greg), Sarah G. Constable (Mark), Carey Ellis, and Paul Ellis (Lisa);  great-grandchildren:  Daniel, Katie, Emily, Keegan, Ethan, Caden, Jake, Levi and Analiese;  nieces and nephews:  Sharon Cox, Jane Lee, Mardi Sabo, Helen Haygood, Barry Brown, David Harley, and Richard Harley.  He was predeceased by son-in-law:  Ansel Garrett;  and brothers-in-law:  Jim Harley and J.H. Brown, Jr.

Funeral services will be 1 PM, Saturday, May 11, 2019, at the Varnville First Baptist Church with burial in the Hampton Cemetery conducted by Rev. Dr. Tommy Kelly and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 PM at the Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton and Saturday until 12 noon when the casket will be placed in the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hampton Cemetery Fund, 402 Shaw Drive, Hampton, SC 29924 or Varnville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 306, Varnville, SC 29944.
