Mrs. Martha Lucille Crapse Bowers, 71, of Browning Gate Road near Estill, died Thursday morning at Hampton Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Bowers was born in Lena, December 8, 1945, a daughter of the late Benjamin Holbrook Crapse and Inez Smith Crapse. She was the widow of the late Joseph Benton and Mackie Bowers. Mrs. Bowers was a homemaker and loved hunting, fishing and gardening. She was a member of the Scotia Baptist Church.
Surviving are: Sons: Randy Benton (Michelle) of Estill, Michael Shapiro (Tammy) of Varnville, and Marty Bowers (Tori) of Ridgeland; Daughters: Debra Summerlin (Tom), Lisa Bostick (Robert) and Shari Pevey (Wesley), all of Estill; Brothers: Jesse Crapse of Hardeeville and Marvin Crapse of Furman. There are 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bowers was predeceased by: Brother, Roy Crapse; Sister, Vera Hite; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Jamie Norris with burial in the Nixville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.
