Marlene C. Fail

Mrs. Marlene Crosby Fail, 72, widow of the late Ted Fail and resident of Sniders Highway in Walterboro, SC, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Born June 25, 1954, in Beaufort, SC, Mrs. Fail was the daughter of the late George Daniel Crosby and the late Dorothy Marie White Crosby. She retired after working over 30 years for Wal-Mart; retiring as a manager. Mrs. Fail loved drinking coffee and Pepsi, listening to music, swimming, and especially diamond art – which she excelled at. Most importantly, Mrs. Fail will be remembered by her friends and family as a kind person who loved deeply.

Mrs. Fail was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Grays, SC.

Surviving is her daughter, April Johnson (Carlton Allen) of Walterboro, SC; her son, Brandon Fail (Amanda) of Cottageville, SC; grandchildren: Shyiann, DeeDee, Jamie, Dakota, Emily, and Hallie; 10 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Linda Crosby Sumler of Varnville, SC, Rose Hagy of Walterboro, SC, and Darlene Benton of Walterboro, SC. There are also many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who survive.

In addition to her husband, Ted Fail, and her parents; Mrs. Fail is predeceased by her siblings, Barbara Crosby, Danny Crosby, and Delvin Crosby.

Funeral Services will be 2 PM Friday, October 2, 2026, in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Nelson Foster. Burial will follow in the Hampton Cemetery on Holly St. E., Hampton, SC 29924.

Visitation will be from 5 PM – 7 PM Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, Hampton Chapel, located at 300 Mulberry St. W., Hampton, SC 29924.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Fail, Jamie Johnson, Drew Krueger, Steven MacNeir, Andy Williams, Darrell Gant, Jacob Crosby, Carlton “G.G.” Allen, and Shyiann Johnson.

Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home is assisting the Fail family during this time.
