Marion Edna Albecker Garman

Mrs. Marion Edna Albecker Garman of Luray Highway near Hampton, died early Wednesday morning at her residence.

Mrs. Garman was born July 6, 1944 in Summit, New Jersey, a daughter of the late Albert and Marion Adele Albecker.  She had retired from Scotsman in Fairfax as a Production Planner and had attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfax.

Marion and her father were competitive equestrians, and Marion was an award winning equestrian in the English style.  They owned and operated Hampton Stables where they gave lessons to the youth in Hampton County.  They were instrumental in founding the Hampton County Saddle Club in 1961.

Marion was an avid animal lover and was supportive of local rescues.  As such, we ask that anyone so inclined, donate to Valiant: Animal Rescue + Relief at  https://valiantanimalrescue.org/.

Surviving are:  her husband:  Donald Wayne Garman of Hampton;  daughters:  Gina Holstein of Hampton and Sara H. Graves of Charleston;  son:  James Bryan Garman and wife Angela of Hampstead, Maryland;  sister:  Dorothy Lightsey of Hampton; mother-in-law:  Doris Garman of Varnville;  and grandchildren:  Alex Jarrell and Carolyn Graves.  Mrs. Garman was predeceased by a brother, Donald Albecker.

A brief Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, September 19th, 5:00 PM at the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton.  Visitation will be immediately following the service until 7:00 PM.
