Lynn H. Youmans, Jr.

Mr. Lynn H. Youmans, Jr, 93, of Furman, SC, husband of the late Mary Elizabeth "Dolly" Youmans died Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at his residence.

Mr. Youmans was born in Hampton County, October 7, 1931, a son of the late Lynn and Blanche Daley Youmans.  He graduated from Wofford College in 1953 and returned home where he began a long, distinguished career in agriculture.  He was a 6th generation family farmer and an agricultural leader in South Carolina where he served on many advisory boards and agricultural committees (Farm Bureau, Watermelon Association, State Water Resources, and others).  He also served his local community as Mayor of the town of Furman, coached girls high school basketball before he became the clock operator where the home team always had a little extra time left on the clock.  He was a member of Furman United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School and served his and other local churches as Lay Speaker for many years.

Surviving are his twin daughters: Rebecca L. Youmans of Furman and Susan Youmans Shaw and husband Wade of Macon, GA; two grandsons, Ben Shaw of Nashville, TN and Cameron Shaw of Raleigh, NC; two special nephews, Alex and Gary Youmans; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Mr. Youmans was predeceased by his wife Mary "Dolly" Hughes Youmans, twin brother Robert A.  Youmans, Sr., sister Jean Youmans Gantt, and grandson Lynn Harrison Shaw.

Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Monday, December 02, 2024, at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton, SC.

Funeral Services will be held 1 PM on Tuesday, December 03, 2024, at the Furman United Methodist Church, Furman, SC and conducted by the Rev. Dewey Shaffer.  Burial will follow in the Lebanon Cemetery near Furman, SC.
