Louise Jarrell Mcalhaney

Mrs. Louise J. McAlhaney, age 91, entered into her Heavenly home on July 9, 2022. She was born on December 1, 1930 to the late Ervin Jarrell and Mary Mock Jarrell. On July 23, 1949, she married the love of her life, the late Bradley C. McAlhaney.

She retired after twenty-five years as the lunch room manager at Varnville Elementary School. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling. She was a member of the order of the Eastern Star, Lillie Chapter #27. She was also a Steward of the Forest member. She enjoyed flowers, working in her yard and watching the birds at the feeders. She was a faithful member of Hopewell First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Deloris Johnstone of Hampton, three sons, Ray (Kathy), Steve (Linda), and Mark (JoAnn) McAlhaney all of Varnville, S.C. There are nine grandchildren, Kevin and Tara Johnstone, Renee Cowart and Craig McAlhaney, Krystal Crosby, Alicia and B.J. McAlhaney, Jeffery McAlhaney and Amanda Garcia. There are 9 great grandchildren. Sisters: Evelyn Griner, LaVerne Bishop and Linda Crapse. Two brothers: David (Casey) Jarrell and Oliver Jarrell and serval nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Richard Johnstone, a grandson, Steve C. (Stevie) McAlhaney Jr, two sisters, Margaret Bailey and Annette Griner and a brother, Richard Jarrell.

Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Monday in the Hopewell Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. D. W. Feaster with burial in the Hopewell Cemetery, directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin at 1 P.M. at the church prior to the services.
