Lois Burgener Bowers

Mrs. Lois Irene Burgener Bowers, 90, widow of the late Willie McGee Bowers and former resident of Pine Street West in Varnville, died Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Magnolias of Walterboro, after an extended illness.

Born September 19, 1935, in San Diego, California, Mrs. Bowers was the daughter of the late Bernard Louis Burgener and Eltis Irene Cope Burgener. She was a graduate of Grays High School where she played basketball and was a straight A student. Mrs. Bowers worked as a copper inspector for Westinghouse, retiring after many years of dedicated service. She will be remembered for her kind demeanor and for the deep love she had for her family.

Mrs. Bowers was a member of Pine Level Baptist Church, was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lily Chapter, and formerly volunteered at the local hospital for several years.

Surviving are her sons: Louis Bowers and Kevin Bowers (Cindy), all of Hampton; her daughter, Amy Ginn (Steve) of Nixville; 7 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowers was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Willie McGee Bowers.

Funeral Services will be 10 AM Saturday, August 8, 2026, in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home conducted by Elder Robert Dobson and Elder Paul Tuten. Burial will follow in the Black Creek Cemetery near Hampton.

Visitation will be from 5 PM – 7 PM Friday evening, August 7, 2026, at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, Hampton Chapel, located at 300 Mulberry St. W., Hampton, SC 29924.
