Mrs. Lillian Teresa Phillips Johnson of Ginn Altman Avenue in Hampton died early Friday morning at her residence.
Mrs. Johnson was born in the Nixville Community, August 6, 1934, a daughter of the late Monroe and Maggie DeLoach Phillips. She had worked at the Bi-Rite Grocery Store in Estill and also worked as cashier at the Estill Pharmacy for 18 years. Mrs. Johnson also worked as a caregiver for many families in Hampton County, and was an outstanding wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Nixville Church of God for 59 years and had taught Sunday School for 43 years.
Surviving are: Daughter: Diane Johnson of Hampton; Sons: Lee Johnson and wife Debbie of Brunson, Michael Johnson and wife Loraine of Nixville and Steve Johnson and wife Beverly of Varnville; Brothers: Donnie Phillips of Jesup, Georgia and Jack Phillips of Lena. There are 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Johnson was predeceased by: Her husband: Leroy Franklin Johnson; Brother: Frank Phillips; Sister: Beverly Wilson; Grandchildren: Christopher Johnson and Colt Mixson; and one great-grandson: Trey Mixson.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday in the Nixville Church of God of Prophecy conducted by Rev. Michael Friedrickson, with burial in the Lawtonville Cemetery in Estill.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 8 PM at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.
