Latrelle Bowers Davis

Mrs. Latrelle Bowers Davis, 82, of Shirley Road in Garnett died early Wednesday morning in the National Health Care Facility in Bluffton after an extended illness.

Mrs. Davis was born March 9, 1936 in Walterboro, a daughter of the late Robert and Justine Cook Bowers.  She was a 1954 graduate of Estill High School and attended Winthrop College.  She was Co-Owner of Davis Swimming Pool, Charles Davis Photography and Davis Farms.  She was also active with the South Carolina Breakfast Club and the South Carolina Flying Farmers Group.  She was a bookkeeper for Herb Traubs at the Pirates House in Savannah and later for Memorial Medical Center in Savannah.  Latrelle loved doing for others.  She was  a devoted wife and mother and loved watching children at their pool, noted for giving free candy after their swim.  Latrelle loved traveling with her husband to ball games and work and was his guide at weddings.  They did everything together.  Latrelle was a member of Furman Baptist Church.

Surviving are:  her husband:  Charles E. Davis, Jr. of Garnett, whom she married on April 23, 1961;  children:  Frances Davis and Charles E. Davis, III; and five grandchildren.  There are several close friends and family:  Madeline Evans, Cathy Mixon, Kim Torrey, Rick Jancha and children, JoAnn Greenway and Janet Ballard.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday in the Furman Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brian Toney with burial in the Lebanon Cemetery near Scotia, directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton.

Visitation will begin Sunday at 1:00 PM prior to services at the church in Furman.
