Larry Tuten Sr.

Mr. Luther Larry Tuten Sr. entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 3 ^rd at Beaufort Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of Nolen and Ruby Tuten of Varnville, and was the third son of six children. He was predeceased by his brothers; Johnny, Ronald, Mack, and Charles.

Larry lived his life to the fullest, mostly outdoors, enjoying activities like fishing, farming, hunting, and caring for his beloved Red Hill. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, huge smile, one-of-a-kind wit, and mischievous antics. His greatest attribute was his generous soul, always willing to help his family and neighbors by giving his time or sharing the fruits of his labor. Larry was a lifetime member of Sandy Run Baptist Church and was strong in his faith. He was a Deacon and served in multiple roles within his church.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Brenda Bookhardt Tuten; daughters: Kerri Tuten Warren (Miles) of Greenville, Sarah Tuten Gritzinger (Bruce) of Walterboro, Terri Tuten Ayer (Eddie) of Brunson, and his son, Luther Larry Tuten Jr. of Hampton; a sister, Carolyn Tuten Polk (Denny) of Islandton, and  sister-in-laws, Helen Tuten of Varnville and Barbara Tuten of Columbia. Grandchildren: Olivia Warren, Briar Mixon, Jordan Ayer (Justine), and Justin Ayer; and great grandchild, Avanelle Ayer. Step children; Kristie Davis (Ryan), Jason McNeal, and nine step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 7 ^th at Sandy Run Baptist Church, 2100 Sandy Run Rd. Hampton, SC 29924, with burial in the Sandy Run Cemetery, directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton. Visitation will be Saturday morning at the church beginning at 10 a.m. prior to the services.
