Kevin Blake Mixson

Kevin Blake Mixson, 47, of Cummings, died on Thursday, March 24, 2022 in Dalhart, Texas. He was born in Orangeburg on August 2, 1974, to Jim E. Mixson and Carol Craven Mixson. Kevin is survived by his parents Jimmy and Carol of Cummings; sister Deborah Crews and fiancé Shawn Gerard of Yemassee; daughter Brook Dennis and husband Joseph Dennis of Cayce; daughters Mariah, Abby, and Emma Mixson of West Point, Virginia; son Preston Mixson of West Point; niece Valorie Kinard and her husband Drayton Kinard and daughters Charlee and Carter Kinard; nephew Colton Crews and sons Cooper and Colton Crews; and his aunt, Lorraine Mixson, and uncle, J.E. Mixson (preceded in death), who were like his second parents.

Above all, Kevin loved the Lord. He was an active member of Spirit of Life Ministries in Varnville, often assisting with sound and production. He loved worship and listening to Pastor David Schaffer sing and play the piano.

Kevin, an original 'river rat,' loved being on the Edisto River as much as time would allow. Being on the water was his favorite place, a strong trait that passed on to all of his children. He was born a Gamecock and he died a Gamecock, and will surely cheer on his favorite team from Heaven.

A celebration of life for Kevin will be Saturday at 3 P.M. at the Spirit of Life Ministry Church in Varnville conducted by Rev. David Schaffer and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin at 2 P.M. prior to the services at the church.
