Kathy Jean Crosby

Kathy Crosby of Bennettsville, SC passed away on Sunday September 24, 2023 at Hospice House in Florence, SC.

Kathy was born in Hampton County, SC on December 21, 1957 to the late JC and Barbara Peeples Crosby. She was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School, North Greenville University, Winthrop University and University of South Carolina. She taught physical education in the Marlboro County School District. She was a member of Bruton's Fork Baptist Church spending many years working in the church nursery. Kathy also spent her pre- and post-retirement years working at Pinehill Baptist Retreat and Camp. Kathy loved being involved in Camp Pinehill and made many good friends through her work there. She also helped in the Community Kitchen assisting in providing meals for the less fortunate.

Kathy is survived by a sister Judith Crosby, a brother Steve Crosby (Sherry), 3 nieces Rachel, Jacey (Joe) and Stephanie, a great niece Riley and step nieces and nephews, Cody (Glennda), Amanda (Forrest) and Savannah, step great nieces and nephews Kyleah, Morgyn, Colten, Lincoln, and Miley.

In addition to her parents, she is pre-deceased by an infant sister.

A graveside funeral will be held Friday, September 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson-St Paul Cemetery, on Country Club Road in Hampton, SC, conducted by Rev. R. P. Hodge.   Visitation will be held following the service. A memorial service will be conducted in Bennettsville, SC in the upcoming month.

In Lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Pinehill Baptist Retreat, 2096 Baptist Road, Bennettsville, SC 29512 to allow the retreat/camp to continue in the mission that was dear to Kathy's heart.

The family would like to thank the Camp Pinehill and Bruton's Fork members for their support throughout Kathy's illness'. They would also like to thank the staff at McLeod Oncology, Encompass in Florence, SC and Hospice House in Florence, SC for the compassionate care and understanding they provided for Kathy in her time of need.
