Julianna Miley Henricks, 70, of Walterboro, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 26th, 2025. She was born on November 23rd, 1954, in Kingstree, South Carolina to George F and Dorothy H Miley. She was a graduate of Goose Creek High School class of 1973, and College of Charleston class of 1977 with a degree in art. At the time of her death, she was teaching art at Hendersonville Elementary School in Walterboro.
Julie will be remembered for her love of her family, her passion for art education, and for her dedication to her church and to her church family.
She enjoyed travel and lived in fascinating cities all over the globe, from Guatemala to Bad Tölz, Germany. She was, in fact, living in Germany when the Berlin Wall came down and had many stories to tell from her time there.
Julie loved cooking, entertaining, singing alto in the church choir, and teaching the wonderful students in her art classes at Hendersonville. She had a green thumb and loved plants and flowers. For many years she owned an art gallery and picture framing business in Goose Creek. Her daughter has a great many fond memories and funny stories from helping out around the store. And who could forget Julie's fabulous New Year's Day Hoppin' John feasts?
Julie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Erin and Josh Lawings; her beloved partner, Stacy Lundy; her brother Frank Miley; her brother and sister-in-law Harry and Terri Miley; niece Sarah Miley; niece and nephew-in-law Charlotte and Ryan Miley Richter; and great-nephew Emmerich Miley Richter. She is predeceased by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian church, 712 Wapoo Rd, Charleston, SC 29407 on Saturday October 4 at 1:00 PM. For those who wish to honor Julie's memory with flowers, they will be gladly accepted at the church for the service. Additionally, donations may be sent to St Andrews Presbyterian Church for the "Healing Rhythms for Beloved Community" program in her memory. A private inurnment ceremony for family members will be held at the Brunson, SC cemetery.
