Joseph Nix

Mr. Joseph Wilton Nix, 91, of Salkehatchie Road in Yemassee, died early Saturday morning, January 30, 2021 at his residence.

Mr. Nix was born February 6, 1929 in Hampton County, a son of the late Joseph Washington Nix and Ella Oregon Nix.  He was an Air Force Veteran, retiring after 24 years of service.  After retirement he worked with Le Creuset near Yemassee for many years.  Mr. Nix was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Yemassee, had served as Magistrate with the town of Yemassee and was a life-long Mason.

Surviving is his wife Ann Elliott Nix of Yemassee; daughter:  Jerra Thomas and husband Seth of Hendersonville; sons:  Stephen Henson and wife Ann of Yemassee and Mark Henson and wife Jennifer of Leesburg, Virginia; and grandchildren:  Maveric, Ashlee and fiance' Hunter Bartlett, Andrew, Rachel and Taylor.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 2 PM in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Yemassee conducted by Chaplain Darius McCarthy with Masonic Rites and the Military presenting the flag to Mrs. Nix.  The service is being directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton.
