Joseph Jasper "Jack" Brant

Mr. Joseph "Jack" Brant of Yemassee, died Tuesday evening from injuries received in an automobile accident in Hampton County.

Mr. Brant was born in the Ulmer community in Allendale County, November 18, 1927, a son of the late Henry Eugene Brant and Mamie Sue Deer Brant.  He was a former Railroad Agent for many years, and also, had served as a Rural Mail Carrier as well as Postmaster of the Ulmer Post Office.  He served in the Army and was a member of the Varnville First Baptist Church where he attended the Senior Men's Sunday School Class.  He was a member and Vice Commander of the American Legion Post # 108.  Jack loved his family, playing golf and the Gamecocks.

Surviving are:  Sons:  Jack "Tony" Brant of Yemassee, Rick Brant and wife Dana of Lexington, and Marty Brant and wife Shannon of Columbia;  Sisters:  Jewel B. Davis of Denmark and Lina B. Herring of Hephzibah, Georgia;  and Grandchildren:  Katy, Brooke, Marlee, Connelly, Tyler and Tanner.  There are 8 great grandchildren.  Mr. Brant was predeceased by his wife Amaryllis B. Brant, and three brothers.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 P.M. in the Varnville First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Tommy Kelly with burial in the Great Salkehatchie Cemetery in Ulmer.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 P.M. at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton and Friday beginning at 1 P.M. at the church prior to services.

The family suggests that those who wish may send memorials to the Great Salkehatchie Cemetery in Ulmer.
